Thematic routes of the Chianti Classico Hiking Network

The Chianti Classico Hiking Network for the area of Castelnuovo Berardenga, presents a series of thematic routes of varying length and difficulty, which allow you to learn about historical, architectural, landscape and naturalistic emergencies of an area with a high vocation for hiking and trekking.

Below are the routes with their main features. By accessing each of them, in addition to knowing all the details, it will be possible to download the detailed cartography in PDF format and the gpx satellite file, which can also be viewed on the most common smartphones, having the possibility of following the trail in real time.

Information on possible variants to make the routes shorter is available in the detail sheets.

Difficulty levels:
T
= Touristic

Routes on small roads, mule tracks or comfortable paths, with clearly marked routes that do not pose uncertainties or orientation problems. They generally take place below 2,000 m and usually provide access to mountain pastures or refuges. They require a certain knowledge of the mountain environment and physical preparation for walking..
E = Excursionism
Routes that are almost always on paths, or on passing tracks in varied terrain (pastures, debris, scree), usually with signposts; there may be short flat or slightly sloping stretches of residual snow, when, in the event of a fall, the slide stops in a short space of time and without danger. They sometimes take place on open terrain, without paths but not problematic, always with adequate signposting. They can take place on steep slopes; exposed sections are usually protected (barriers) or secured (cables). They can have single passages on rock, which are not exposed, or short sections that are neither strenuous nor demanding thanks to equipment (ladders, rungs, cables) but do not require the use of specific equipment (harnesses, carabiners, etc.). They require a certain sense of direction, as well as some experience and knowledge of the mountainous terrain, walking training, and appropriate footwear and equipment..
